Sketch o’the Week
June 4th, 2008 | Posted in Sketch O'The Week
This week’s sketch is of the incredibly frightening prop-happy comedien Scott “Carrot Top” Thompson. This is an example of why you should not take steroids. Juice monkeys have a certain look to them… and this is it. As if the eye makeup and hair wasn’t scary enough…
Here are the two pics I used as the reference for this drawing, just so you can see I am not exaggerating much. Look at the deformity in his shoulders and the thin skin. You can’t see it but his legs are stick thin… It’s guys like this that give bodybuilding a bad name.

Not just steroids, but direct site injections right into his delts. He is a laughing stock of the bodybuilding community. Funny sketch!
Awesome sketch Tom! The guy looks like a real jerk but this is the first time I have ever seen him! What do I know anyway! I never used steroids to get my beer belly pumped up, just lots of good old English ale……LOL!
HAAAAAA Tom, That’s Awesome! I find The photo on the left most disturbing! His right arm looks like it was mangled in a car accident! Have you ever seen an arm when it was pulled from the socket? That is what his arm looks like. I also know a little about body building and you CANT work your arms and chest without a subsequent effect on your core body and back…his whole torso looks un-effected…what a freak. I wonder what kind of relationship he had with his father?
THE CARICATURE is GREAT!!! I actually think you were a little too kind in this depiction…You could have really ripped him a new one! I don’t think carrot top is gonna take a swing at you Tom!
Whoa! I had no idea he pumped up! How……weird!
with his makeup, he looks drag! 🙂
I’m enjoying your sketched likeness!
Man, please tell me that blue shirt pic is photoshopped? Those shoulders look deformed! If it’s not photoshopped, it’s gotta be synthrol, right? That’s not just steroids, IMO…that’s too weird…
Nice toon, BTW.
That is sad to see. I had no idea he went that route. It conjures up images of another comedian who decided to try steroids for a while. –Joe Piscopo. It helped him tremendously, too. (But I don’t think he went this far.)
The medial deltoids are truly freakish. I’ve seen plenty of steroid guys in the gym, but never with angles that extreme on their shoulders. Natural bodybuilders can diet to get thin-looking skin, but that gravel-like texture is certainly a steroid by-product. And it’s interesting…it’s hard to be sure, but it appears that Carrot Top’s head is a bit bigger now. (Shades of Barry Bonds.) Speaking of craniums, unfortunately this kind of decision-making says something about his psyche.
I think the drawing looks more “normal” than his photos. You made him look less like a caricature than he is in real life.
Great drawing. I like the use of hatching on his stretched skin and the bizarre deltoid shapes. They really sell the steroid look.
Regardless of how bizarrely ripped he gets, I don’t think the public will ever associate Carrot Top with serious body building. It does remind me of a movie I’d like to see though – “Bigger, Stronger, Faster*”

Looks really interesting. I think I’ll probably get flak for saying this, but I think it’s only a matter of time before steroid use is an accepted part of sports. They can’t seem to keep it exciting (in the way a paying public wants it) without them. And pro athletes get to the top by doing everything they could to win. Steroids can certainly help.
