I hadn’t realized this was out yet. I was looking forward to it since I can’t access my totally mad CD-ROMs since I got a new computer. Tom, does this new version contain the material you mentioned was omitted from the previous collection?
D’OH! I meant to follow that statement up in the article by saying that, no, Absolutely MAD does not contain the copyright-related missing material from Totally MAD. I’ve edited the post to add that info. Thanks!
Tom, have you downloaded VLC media player for Mac? It is freeware, and has a built-in screen capture. It is a little cruder than WinDVD (which I have for my PC) because you can’t seem to go frame-by-frame (at least I haven’t figured it out) to pick your best shots. You kind of have to pause it at the right time; if you miss, then you have to roll back and try again until you hit the “sweet spot.”
Later!
Tom
Tom! Yes, I have VLC for the Mac, and that’s what I am using right now. There is also a freeware program called Capture DVD for Mac which is used in tandem with Mac’s DVD player, but it doesn’t work right… it’s apparently only designed for the G4 G5 tower macs, and the Mac Pros have some issues with it. Bacisally it does take a snapshot but not necessarily of the DVD screen… it will take one of part of the screen and part of the desktop, and there seems to be no way to get it to work with just the DVD window. VLC works nicely except for what you point out… no way to advance the frame slowly. Frustrating.
