Be a Schmendrick!

All crowdfunding campaigns have different levels of “perks” representing different levels of backer support. Our CLAPTRAP book IndieGoGo campaign has several, like the “Putz” ($12- you get a PDF of the entire Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker parody), the “Clod” ($25- you get a copy of the hardcover book), etc. BTW you get all the stuff from lower perk tiers when you contribute at a higher one, so the higher you go the more stuff you get!

One of the higher tiers is the “Schmendrick”. If you are a Schmendrick (or higher) you get all the stuff from lower perk tiers plus you’ll be getting an original sketch by me in the book. The “Schmendrick” tier is $200.

$200 is a lot of dough, but I just wanted people to know what they’ll be getting. These sketches will not be 10 minute scribbles. I’ll be doing a “sketch o’the week” level drawing like the one of Morgan Freeman you see above… crosshatching and everything. I’ll do a sketch with that level of detail of one of the characters from one of the parodies in the book in pencil. This will be done on a special page at the beginning of the book that will be of a different stock than the rest of the pages. The “sketch page” will be of drawing paper stock, which I will be picking out and sending to the printer for insertion and binding into the book.

Right now I’ll be picking the subject of the “Schmendrick”sketch to draw in the book. However we are almost at our second stretch goal, (EDIT- We just blew past that goal!) which if unlocked means the Schmendrick getting the sketch gets to tell ME which spoof they want the character to come from. I am still going to pick out which character from each spoof to draw, but you’ll get to choose which spoof it comes from! So, if you are a huge “Big Lebowski” fan, you’ll know when you open that book you’ll be seeing a sketch of the Dude, or Walter, or Donnie, or… you get the idea. That’s IF you are a Schmendrick, that is.

Right now we have only 20 Schmendrick backers out of a limit of 100. Even at $200, this is probably the best value perk level we have. You get an original, detailed pencil sketch by moi of a character from the movie spoof of your choice, plus all the following from the tiers below it:

• PDF of the “Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker” parody
• CLAPTRAP hardcover book, signed by both Tom and Des
• A “Behind the Scenes” PDF of the script, pencils roughs and inks from the “Star Wars: RoS” parody, complete with writer/artist notes
• An exclusive signed print
• An exclusive full color bookmark (courtesy stretch goal #1)
• Your name in the book as a backer
• Participate in the “nominate and vote” process to choose the 9th and 10th movies we will parody in the book

That’s a pretty good deal for $200, considering a I routinely charge $100 for one of my “sketch of the week” sketches, which comes with none of the other stuff listed above.

Did you know you can choose more than one perk on IndieGoGo? Or that you can “upgrade” to a higher tier by requesting a refund for your original contribution and then choosing a different one?
