Holy Media Overload, Batman! An interview with me about the Tarantino film art and the process behind it posted today on the Motion Picture Association of America’s “The Credits” feature, written by noted film critic and author Nell Minow. I think my Warholian 15 minutes might be in play. READ MORE
David Levin‘s marvelous Pop Goes the Culture TV show has been doing a series of interviews with “The Usual Gang of Idiots” about the end of original content in the regular issues of the magazine. He must be reaching the bottom of the barrel because a new episode just got posted featuring me as a guest, recorded live from my studio in beautiful downtown Burnsville. Visit David’s YouTube Channel to see interviews with former MAD editors Joe Raiola and Charlie Kadau, and MAD artist Ray Alma, with more to come I am told. In fact, check out his other episodes of the show featuring an… READ MORE
I try really hard when I do a comic-con to only do commissions while there, and not ahead of time or take them home and ship them later. This is for two reasons. First, it makes this kind of thing unique in that you can only get one these from me at a comic con, and it’s (mostly) the only time I work in brush pen and Copic markers. Second, I am usually swamped with freelance work right after being away from the studio, so it takes me a while to get to any commissions, which I always feel bad about. The Lovely Anna is… READ MORE
With all the hullabaloo about MAD‘s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” cover and “Bounty Law” parody, I haven’t mentioned I did the art on ANOTHER parody in MAD #9. This one is called “Behind the Scenes of Dizzy’s The Lion King”, written by comedian Akilah Hughes. Screenrant has an exclusive look at the spoof (actually the entire 5 page feature) on their website. You can go have a look but don’t forget to go buy a copy when it comes out next week!!! READ MORE

In our previous episode I told the story about how I got hired to do illustrations of a fake TV Guide and MAD cover to be used as props for Quentin Tarantino’s new movie “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”. The adventure continues… Having ended up delivering the images that were going to appear in the film digitally because of a sudden change of shooting dates, I now had plenty of time to do the actual painted versions. These originals were part of the arrangement, and would be owned by Quentin. As it happens, I was going to be in Los Angeles about a month… READ MORE
This is going to be a long post because this story took place over the course of 18 months, had not a few twists and turns including my doing the final art TWICE, and ended up being something very different than what it started out to be. Plus I’ve been keeping this a secret for all this time, so I want to tell the story right. Bear with me… In March of 2018 I received an email from Chris Call of Call Props, who was serving as “Property Master” for Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming film “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”. Chris had found me via… READ MORE
