Q: If I send you a picture of my kids/grandpa/dog/boss/neighbors/etc can you do the same thing you do at comic-cons and mail it to me? A: I get asked this all the time when I have a booth at a comic con, either when the person inquiring does not have a picture of the person they want drawn or I am already booked up for the show and they want it done anyway. Unfortunately the type of commission I do at comic cons I ONLY do at comic cons. They are a cross between quick draw live caricatures and brush pen/marker drawings, and I don’t… READ MORE

Speaking of Comic Cons, I’m going to be a special guest at Michigan Comic Con next month, and I was asked to do the art for the official convention poster. Image above. The initial idea to spoof the cover of MAD #243 with Iron Man was the convention folk’s, but I added Alfred and a couple of other gags. This poster will be available FREE to convention attendees while supplies last! Michigan Comic Con takes place at Aug 16-18th at the Cobo Center in Detroit. Come to the show, get a free poster and bring it by my booth and I’ll sign it! READ MORE

I’m off to San Diego Comic Con! My “exclusive comic con print” went pretty well in Atlanta last weekend, so I’m doing another one for SDCC. In honor of the season three release a little over a week ago, the exclusive print for SDCC 2019 is an oversized print (13″ x 19″) of the splash page from MAD‘s parody of “Stranger Things from issue 548. Limited to only 20 prints. Hand signed and numbered. ONLY available at San Diego Comic Con this weekend. If I don’t sell them all the remainder will be shredded. Hope to see you in San Diego!! Apologies for the lack of posts around here recently. I’ve been either on the road or on deadline. In fact I’m on the latter today and the former again tomorrow! In the meantime today’s Monday MADness features a look at my final art for MAD‘s parody of “School of Rock” written by Dick DeBartolo from MAD #438, Feb. 2004. READ MORE

My 2019 workshops have all been sold out for several months now, but I just added one more in December: Orlando, Florida! My youngest daughter lives in Orlando and we have planned a trip to visit her at that time, so I figured, why not do a workshop while there? It will have been almost a year since my last one in Orlando. You can check out all the details and book your spot here. We have a much more central and easy to get to location this time. For you pro caricaturists who are concerned about missing holiday gigs, I have adjusted the times… READ MORE

Come and see me at Atlanta Comic Con at the Georgia World Congress Center this weekend! I’ll be at table G-4 in the special guests area. What’s new for me? Well, I’m going to start having a very limited edition comic-con exclusive print that will be unique for each comic con I do. I’ll only have 20 of each of these prints, and when they are gone they are gone. They’ll be a signed and numbered oversized (13″x19″) print of one of the splash pages from a MAD parody I did. The one I’ll have at Atlanta Comic Con this weekend, the splash from MAD… READ MORE

What constitutes my very first MAD job depends on your definition of “first”. Would that be the first thing I was ever assigned to do and then paid for doing it by the magazine? The first thing I ever did that appeared under the MAD brand in any form (i.e. on their website?) or the first thing I did that actually saw print in an issue? Technically the very first job I ever got from MAD was assigned to me 19 years ago last month (June 2000). It was a feature called “MAD‘s Cable TV Viewing Odds”, written by John Biederman. This job was what… READ MORE
