I’m doing a “Ask me Anything” on Reddit this morning at 10:00 AM Central time (9:00 Eastern). If you aren’t familiar with Reddit, it’s a “social news aggregate” website where registered members post on different subjects and discuss. It’s structured more like the a throwback message board, and has a very strong following. One of the most popular things on Reddit are their “Ask Me Anything” events, which are curated. The Subreddit r/IAmA, which is the most popular community for AMAs, was the eighth most popular subreddit on the site with 17.7 million subscribers. During an AMA on r/IAmA and other subreddits, users can ask… READ MORE

When I was in 8th grade I worked a paper route in La Crosse, WI. I used the proceeds to buy one of those inexpensive stereo systems from J.C. Pennys that was supposed to look like a component system with an amp/pre amp, a cassette deck, an equalizer with a lot of pretty lights, and a turntable on the top. The stereo came in a cabinet with a glass door on it. In reality the whole thing was one piece of cheap plastic surrounded by a pressboard box with a fake wood grain surface. The first album I ever bought and played on it was… READ MORE

This Thursday was supposed to be the start of New York Comic Con, which was subsequently cancelled. This constitutes the fourth comic-con I was supposed to appear at in 2020 that has been shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic. This one is arguably my favorite con of the year, and The Lovely Anna and I are sad we won’t be in the Big Apple this weekend seeing so many friends and peers. Like the other three cancelled cons, I will instead be opening up my “Virtual Artist’s Alley Table” here on my website for the same hours as the physical convention was supposed to… READ MORE

Well, not “on the stands” since MAD is no longer on newsstands anywhere. It’s not in comic book shops either because that won’t happen until Wednesday, assuming you can find a copy in a comic book shop at all. It is, however, in most subscriber’s mailboxes already. I’m no longer going to list the contents of the issues, since the vast majority of it is reprinted material. I’ll just list anything that’s new. So here you go: Cover (Bob Lizarraga) Spy vs. Spy (Peter Kuper) Dastardly Dr. Bunk’s MAD Monster Lab (Tom Bunk) Classic Movie Scenes We’d Like to See (Sergio Aragonés) Fold-In (Johnny Sampson)… READ MORE

Q: Besides “The Rise of Skywalker”, what other movies are you planning on doing parodies of in your book? A: By “book”, do you mean CLAPTRAP, the book of movie parodies MAD writer Desmond Devlin and I are currently shamelessly crowdfunding on IndieGoGo? I thought so. Right now we are planning to do ten full length movie parodies, with some extra movie related gag features in between. However if we reach our funding goal we will have stretch goals that will add up to two more full-length spoofs for a possible total of twelve. We have several classic movies already picked out (in fact Des… READ MORE
