Cartoon Network Stuff

Now that season 3 of the MAD show on Cartoon Network is over, I can probably share some of the work I did this season. I didn’t do much this year… only two episodes. One was entitled “Jurassic Park and Recreation”, and the other “The Poop-sodeon Adventure”:
Most of the ones for “Jurassic Parks and Rec” were based on the ones I did in the parody for the magazine. Stephen Lang was the only extra character. I tried something different for the “Poopsideon” segment… I drew those directly on the Cintiq. No paper involved. It was a quick turnaround job so I gave it a shot. Hate the results. Will not be doing that again. Don’t ask why Zack and Cody were in that one.

These are all so great, especially your Rashida Jones. She seems like she would be tough to capture, but you nailed it.
It’s interesting, it isn’t the line work that looks all that different between the traditional ones and the Cintiq drawn ones, its the coloring. Is there a particular reason you went with flat colors as opposed to the coloring you used on the Jurassic Park and Rec job?
The coloring is basically incidental. They only want a general idea of color, and any gradations or shading I do they usually just simplify in Flash anyway.
Just caught the Jurassic Parks & Rec episode and I have to say the shirtless Ron Swanson riding a T-Rex was one of the greatest moments in all of television history.
