Here’s my Orson Welles for today’s “The Daily Coronacature”. I was sorely tempted to draw an older Welles because his face was a lot more fun later in his life, between the beard and the long combed back hair, etc. But, I needed to do one from his “Citizen Kane” era for the CLAPTRAP sketches I’ll be doing in those books going to “Schmendrick” level backers and higher. BTW there are still 15 of those Schmendrick original-sketch-in-the-book backer levels left. I do a sketch like the one you see above from the movie of your choice from the book! This original is also available in… READ MORE
Here’s my André the Giant as “Fezzik” from the fan-favorite movie “The Princess Bride”. How do I know it’s a “Fan-favorite”? Because it’s one of the three movies our backers picked for us to do parodies of in CLAPTRAP! This is another example of the kind of sketches I’ll be doing in copies of CLAPTRAP for all “Schmendrick” or higher backers. You get to choose the movie the character I draw comes from (I choose the subject)! There was a limit of 100 of these, and there are only 15 left! Grab one while you can. Or you can just buy this original… READ MORE
Here’s my Clint Eastwood as “William Munny” from the oscar winning movie “Unforgiven”. This is another example of the kind of sketches I’ll be doing in copies of CLAPTRAP for all “Schmendrick” or higher backers. You get to choose the movie the character I draw comes from (I choose the subject)! There was a limit of 100 of these, and there are only two left! Grab one while you can. I haven’t been participating much lately, but “The Daily Coronacature” I started back in march is still going under the auspices of Dave Snyder on Facebook and IGG. Today’s subject is rocker Dave Navarro. Back in the 2010’s I illustrated a sex advice column he wrote for Penthouse (well, it was half actual advice and half tongue-in-cheek humor). Here’s a gallery of some of the ones I did for that column in Penthouse. The “themes” of each illustration related to some subject Dave was talking about in his column. READ MORE
Here’s my sketch of screen legend Janet Leigh in her role of “Marion Crane” from “Pyscho”. Yes, this is another sneak peek at the kind of sketches I’ll be doing in the “Schmedrick” level preorder of Des Devlin and my book CLAPTRAP. The “Schmendrick” level includes a sketch by me on a special sketch paper insert page in your hardcover copy of the book. Best of all thanks to one of our met stretch goals YOU get to pick which movie the caricature sketch comes from. This will be the one you get if you pick the movie “Psycho”. There are currently only 15 Schmendricks… READ MORE
Here’s my caricature of Ray Liotta as “Henry Hill” from the movie “Goodfellas”. This is an example of a caricature where the exaggerations are based more on the expression than the actual features. Ray Liotta actually has a very small mouth and quite round eyes with long, dark eyelashes. However the point of this caricature is to capture the insanely over-the-top laughing his Henry Hill character does in the famous “Do I amuse you?” scene from Goodfellas. That means exaggerating the mouth and its crazy shape, the smaller, squinted eyes, and the body language. Extreme expressions like this means it can compromise the likeness. If… READ MORE
Here’s my caricature of John Goodman as “Walter” from “The Big Lebowski.” And yes, this is another example of the sketches I’ll be doing in your copy of Des and my upcoming book CLAPTRAP if you pre-order at the “Schmendrick” level! Only a few Schmendricks left! Or, you can always buy this original in the Studio Store. READ MORE
