I know a lot of artists who make a great living doing storyboards, which for those who do not know is a kind of comic-book style way of visually mapping out a live action or animated sequence. Movies, TV shows, animation, commercials… anything that ends up on a screen usually uses storyboards as the visual translation of the script. Storyboards can range from very rough drawings to what looks like finished comicbook art, color and all. I haven’t done a lot of storyboard work. Kinda busy right now so here’s a look at a recent Marlin Co. workplace poster illustration, one that should be running this month for their subscribers. The concept was to show a few big, football player type athletes in a camp setting eating not your typical snack/camp foods but healthy stuff. I wanted to show the coaches with trays of hot dogs and chips, but that idea got nixed. Not sure the concept is imparted well without the counter-argument. Pencil sketches below. READ MORE

I did this illustration that is the the May issue of Sports Illustrated Kids. It illustrates some of the funniest (and oddest) sports injuries ever. For example, the Baltimore Orioles’ Marty Cordova once fell asleep in a tanning bed and sunburned his face so badly he missed playing time. READ MORE

I did this artwork for a job earlier this year for a major national magazine (which shall remain nameless), who then decided not to run the illustrations. The story was about “brothers”, both fictional and in real life. They say they loved the work I did and I did all that was asked of me, but their chief editor could not make up his/her mind about the visuals.
