I’ve had several sudden cancellations for my workshop here in Minnesota taking place Sept 7-8 in nearby Eagan. Three spots are now open for a workshop that has been sold out for months. These are the only workshop spots still available for 2024. If you were ever considering doing one of these and are nearby or don’t mind traveling, the workshops I have here in Minnesota are by far the best ones to take, if for no other reason than the extra night of fun and camaraderie I host on the Friday night before the workshop weekend. The hotel I do the workshop in is… READ MORE

Last weekend The Lovely Anna and I travelled to Stockbridge, MA for the opening of “What Me Worry? The Art and Humor of MAD Magazine”, an exhibit of original art from the pages of MAD spanning the magazine’s entire 72 year history hanging at the Norman Rockwell Museum. I’ve been to a few exhibits of MAD art, and while they have all been good this one is by far the most comprehensive and complete. Usually these exhibits concentrate on certain eras of MAD, often the early Harvey Kurtzman comic book era or the Al Feldstein years where the format of the magazine is most familiar… READ MORE

If you watched the Sonoma NASCAR race event this past weekend you may have seen some of my work on display. TBS had me do a “NASCAR” version of the stars of “Impractical Jokers” using the same caricatures I did for last season’s key art, because James “Murr” Murray was the honorary Grand Marshall of the race. I did the car and the figures, they did the background. READ MORE

I taught a workshop in Atlanta this past weekend. We ended up with a little bit larger group than normal and there was a higher than usual number of pro caricature artists thanks to the participation of a number of artists from A.J. Jensen‘s The Toonheadz caricature company. It was a great group and we had a lot of fun drawing together all weekend! If you want to participate in one of my workshops this year, you are running out of time! Chicago and Boston are sold out, and I have only two spots left in Phoenix. The one in Minnesota I just added has… READ MORE

While many Americans spend their Memorial Day grilling burgers and brats in the backyard, or floating around on a lake or river enjoying beers and the unofficial start of summer, it’s important to remember the reason for the day off. That reason is to honor the members of the United States Armed Forces who lost their lives in the service of our country. Their sacrifice, and the sacrifices of all our military service members, is the reason we are free to grill those brats and raise those beers. Thank you. READ MORE

I had to cancel my September Seattle workshop, but I have replaced it with one here in Minnesota! The workshops I do here take place only about 2 miles from the studio, and are unique in one way… they include an evening in my home and studio for the entire class! That’s right! The Lovely Anna and I host the class on the Friday night prior to the start of the workshop at our place. We’ll have a backyard cookout, adult beverages, Anna’s famous chocolate chip cookies and a tour of my studio looking at original art and other cool stuff, plus a look at… READ MORE
