It’s that time of year again, the National Cartoonists Society’s annual Divisional Awards aka the “Silver Reubens” are gearing up, and they need your submissions for consideration. Each division has specific sets of eligibility criteria, but the following are universal: Must be professionally published between Dec 1, 2015 and Dec 31, 2016 Creator need not be an NCS member, but must be eligible for NCS membership (i.e. a professional cartoonist) The NCS has changed some of the procedures for this year, so please read the gudielines carefully. I had to share these extremely cool photos of what my fellow Sherlockian David Haugen did with his limited edition Sherlock print… he managed to get ORIGINAL autographs of all eight Sherlocks depicted and added them to the matted and framed piece: Pretty impressive considering John Barrymore died in 1942, Basil Rathbone died in 1967, Peter Cushing died in 1994 and Jeremy Brett died in 1995. David told me the hardest one to get was Cushing, because of the Star Wars connection. Not surprising… Cushing is the hardest working dead actor in Hollywood. Anyway, I thought this was awesome. That empty space is filled. Thanks to all and we’ll see you next month! I just had one of my students for my Orlando workshop next month withdraw from the class, so I suddenly have an opening! First come, first served. I reduced the tuition from $600 to $500 for the workshop recently as I decided $600 is too much to expect people to pay, even though I did sell out Orlando at that price. Thanks for the patience all you who ordered stuff from the Studio Store in waiting for me to get back from my ridiculously long trip abroad to ship your orders. As of Wednesday all orders were on their way to their destinations, and new orders get shipped the same or the next day from now on through the holidays. When this post goes up The Lovely Anna and I should be somewhere in the air on our 22 hour travel marathon back to Minnesota after a wonderful stay in New Delhi, India. We get back later today and then we’ll see how long it takes to recover from the jet lag. Our time in India was a lot of fun.
