MAD shared this on Twitter the other day, so I guess it’s ok to share here. This is one of my caricatures of 2020 Democratic Presidential Candidates (some now former candidates… they are dropping like flies!) for the ‘Democratic MADvent calendar”, written by Amanda Stellberg. MAD #11 on sale in comic book stores and via digital on 12/18. READ MORE

I was surprised to see (mostly) my art on the cover of the the latest issue of Australian MAD. This is an altered version of this variant cover I did for Batman/Superman #10, April 2014: Someone added the Joaquin Phoenix “Joker” makeup to the original art for the new cover. No, I did not get paid for this. In fact I didn’t even know about it until someone posted the cover pic on a MAD group in Facebook. That’s the wonderful world of work for hire. READ MORE

Here’s the clever cover for MAD #11 (art by Mark Summers), which goes on sale Dec 18th… somewhere. Your local comic book shop or via your mailbox if you still want to get your MAD on dead trees. Yes this issue is mostly new content. The entire MAD 20 is new. Sergio’s “A MAD Look at…” and Spy vs. Spy is new. I did two of the MAD 20 features. I’ll post the list of contents after the release date. READ MORE

Looks like “Terminator: Dark Fate: is already terminated at the box office, having opened at only $29 million in North America when $40 million was projected (apparently less people than expected wanted to see a 72 year old Arnold Schwarzenegger and a 63 year old Linda Hamilton playing action heroes onscreen). So, here’s a look at the art for MAD‘s spoof of “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines” i.e. “Interminable 3: Rise of the Bad Scenes”, from MAD #432, August 2003 written by Dick DeBartolo. Arnuld was a relatively youthful 56 at the time. Of course we still made fun of how old he was… READ MORE

Earlier this week Sony pictures announced the details of the home video release of Quentin Tarantino‘s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”, and that one of the editions will feature a bunch of extras including a 24 page “Mini MAD” magazine with a follow up parody of the fictional “Bounty Law” TV show from the film. How did that all come about? I’m glad you asked! Back in late July MAD art director Suzy Hutchinson got a call from Quentin’s production team who wanted to explore the idea of doing a small MAD insert of some kind for the film’s Blu-ray release. It would be… READ MORE

Entertainment Weekly just spilled the beans on another little project I worked on with Quentin Tarantino‘s studio and MAD for the film “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”, this time something for the Blu-ray release. Like most movies these days, the “home video” release will come in a lot of different packages and flavors. One of them is a “Limited 4K UHD Collector’s Edition” which will feature all the deleted scenes and extra footage of the other releases, but also a 7-inch vinyl record of a recording of Rick Dalton’s “Hullabaloo” TV show guest performance, a poster for the Rick Dalton film “Operazione Dyn-o-mite!” (which… READ MORE
