Virtual Corona-Con Table Break…

May 31st, 2020 | Posted in News

I’ve had to take a break from accepting any “Virtual Comic-Con” commissions for a little while. I am terribly far behind on the ones in the queue, and freelance jobs with tight deadlines keep popping up. That’s a good problem to have, but I can’t in good conscience take any new commissions until I get caught up. For those of you who have been waiting patiently for your artwork, my apologies for the (in some cases) LOOOONG wait. I will be working hard to squeeze them in around the edges of all this other stuff I have going on. I should be caught up by… READ MORE

A Book Milestone!

May 25th, 2020 | Posted in News

Well, I’m not sure it’s quite a “milestone”, but my book The Mad Art of Caricature! recently hit 400 ratings on Amazon. 86% are 5 star, and 95% are 4 stars or greater! That’s a nice thing to happen just as I am arranging the 11th printing. That’s right… ELEVEN. I am continually amazed at the staying power of this book. BTW, this new printing will feature one new element… a second forward by the great Al Jaffee!! As for version 2.0, I’m afraid that is on hold, probably for a very long time. I’ve got too many other long term projects in the pipeline… READ MORE

Workshop News

May 15th, 2020 | Posted in News

Earlier this month another scheduled workshop passed by having been postponed due to the pandemic, this one was supposed to happen in Long Island City, NY. We did a little Zoom meeting for those able to participate and I did the class poster art, and am mailing out all the workshop swag to everyone. We’ll reschedule that one for the fall sometime once the hotel staff gets back to work. Other postponed workshops include my caricature illustration workshop that was scheduled for March here in MN, the April Chicago workshop, and now the Vienna and Dublin workshops in June. I have rescheduled some of these… READ MORE

MAD About the Star Tribune!

May 1st, 2020 | Posted in News

The Minneapolis Star Tribune did a story about me and our little “Daily Coronacature” endeavor which ran in today’s issue. The article is also online here (although you might have to register to read it). They keep referring to those participating in the Daily Coronacature as my “fans”, which is definitely not what I would have called them, but it’s a nice article and flattering that they’s have the interest in what we are doing to cover it in the paper. What, Me Podcast?

April 22nd, 2020 | Posted in News

This is going to be a very audio-centric week for me as I will be a guest on not one but TWO podcasts! Tomorrow I am recording my guest spot on Jason Seiler‘s “Face The Truth” podcast, and that will air either later tomorrow or Friday. But first I am the guest on Mark Arnold‘s “Fun Ideas Podcast“, which was recorded some time ago and just got posted last night. If the player embedded here doesn’t work you can listen here or on YouTube. Like I said, this podcast was recorded some time ago, back in early March. It’s a little painful to listen to… READ MORE

Workshop Updates

April 21st, 2020 | Posted in News

The COVID-19 pandemic has naturally thrown a wrench into my 2020 workshop schedule. I have been forced to postpone the workshops that were scheduled to take place here in Minnesota last month, and in Chicago this past weekend. I’ve also had to postpone ones in NYC in May and the two in Europe (Vienna and Dublin) in June. I have been able to reschedule some but others are in limbo because many of the hotels/venues we were going to have the workshops in are closed and the sales staff laid off. My workshops in Detroit in August and Indianapolis in September are still going on… READ MORE

San Diego Comic-Con Cancelled!

April 17th, 2020 | Posted in News

Just got official word from San Diego Comic Con that the 2020 event is cancelled. I guess we all knew it was coming… but still. So, my Virtual Corona-Con Artists Alley Table will continue at least through July. I’ll also still create my 2020 limited edition print and other new stuff just like this was the real world with comic-cons and not some kind of alternate earth Bizarro world. READ MORE
