I just got back from doing a workshop in Portland this past weekend. Great fun with a great group of artists! Just a reminder that I have two open spots in my London workshop next month, Aug 14-16th, as well as two spots in my Minnesota workshop, October 12-14th and three for my Phoenix workshop Nov 30-Dec 2. All my other 2018 workshops are sold out! I have one workshop planned for 2019 so far (announcement coming soon) and I’ll probably schedule a few more, but I guarantee I will not be doing as many as I am this year. They will be fewer and… READ MORE

Tuesday, June 19th marks the 40th birthday of everyone’s favorite lasagna-loving, Monday-hating cat. Garfield and friends are celebrating with a new book entitled Age Happens: Garfield Hits the Big 4-0 from Ballantine Books. The full color book features a collection of classic strips, fan art, and a foreword by the Pulitzer Prize–winning creator of Hamilton! (and lifelong Garfield lover) Lin-Manuel Miranda. It also features a section of birthday wishes from guest cartoonists, of which one is me (see above). The book will be released Tuesday, on the anniversary of Garfield’s first appearance. You can pre-order it here. READ MORE

It’s been a while since I posted an update on my 2018 worldwide caricature workshop tour. Workshops in Los Angeles (x2), Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago, New York City and Toronto are in the books already. Most of the rest of 2018 is sold out including Portland, Switzerland, and Los Angeles (again!), but I do have a few spots open in the following workshops: London, UK: Aug 14-16th: Some late cancellations have opened up a couple of spots on what has been a sold out workshop the last few months. This one does happen over weekdays versus the usual weekend. I did that on purpose knowing August… READ MORE

I guess the word is out on this, so I can share it here. First there was Goodnight Batcave, then there was Superman and the Miserable, Rotten, No Fun, Really Bad Day. Now MAD continues it’s shameful desecration of everyone’s childhood memories with the third volume in their kid’s book parody series, Don’t Let the Penguin Drive the Batmobile! Former MAD associate editor Jacob Lambert does the dishonors with the writing this time, while I mail it in with the artwork. This book has actually been done for over a year, and I have twice had to have a face to face conversation with an… READ MORE

This art was for Nick’s “MAD Book” given to him at his retirement Nick Meglin was the only person I ever knew who I would look forward to being insulted by. The world got a little less funny and MAD Magazine lost a large part of its heart and soul yesterday with the sudden passing of Nick from a heart attack. He would have been 83 next month. If there was an official title of “Unsung Hero of MAD Magazine”, Nick would without question wear that crown. While Al Feldstein got a lot of the credit (and MOST of the money) from the success of… READ MORE
