Sketch o’the Week: Van Morrison!

February 2nd, 2022 | Posted in Sketch O'The Week

This week’s sketch is another in my “Classic Rock” series. Here’s my take on Irish singer/songwriter Van Morrison! Morrison’s look has changed so much from the 60’s to today, it was tough to decide what era to draw him from. I chose the 70’s, when he really established himself as a major star. Frankly I’m not sure I couldn’t pass this one off as Ludwig Van Beethoven if I just lost the mic. Maybe it’s just the crazy hair and ascot. They do both have “Van” in their names. . .coincidence? Sketch o’the Week- Bob Saget!

January 26th, 2022 | Posted in Sketch O'The Week

Like so many people, we in the Richmond household were sad to hear of the passing of actor and comedian Bob Saget. Bob is kind of a superstar around here because my oldest daughter The Animated Elizabeth, loves “Full House” and watches the show on her TV and iPad a lot, especially the earlier seasons. Elizabeth is 32 and autistic, and her videos are something that comfort her. She likes watching them over and over, although she has several hundred in her library, mostly Sesame Street, Barney and other kids video series. “Full House” is one of the few typical TV shows she likes and watches.… READ MORE

Sketch o’the Week- Tom Waits!

January 19th, 2022 | Posted in Classic Rock Sketch Series

This week’s sketch is musician, composer, songwriter and actor Tom Waits. Oh sure, he’s a multiple Grammy winner, was named one of Rolling Stone’s “Top 100 Songwriters of All Time” and is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame… but to me he’ll always be the bug-eating R. M. Renfield in Francis Ford Coppola’s “Bram Stoker’s Dracula”! READ MORE

Sketch o’the Week- Penn & Teller!

December 29th, 2021 | Posted in Sketch O'The Week

This week’s SotW is of the magical comedy duo Penn & Teller! The original sketch of this is available in my Studio Store! I’ve actually met Teller. He is a friend of fellow caricaturist and the editor of my “The Mad Art of Caricature” book Celestia Ward. I was at her wedding years ago in Las Vegas and Teller was also in attendance. I chatted with him briefly and yes, he does talk. A subscriber of my “Ink Stained Wretch” newsletter wrote me after I shared this in a recent edition to tell me he saw Penn & Teller in one of their first appearances… READ MORE
