I was sad to hear of the sudden death of Tom Petty this past Monday. He was one of those rockers who had a bigger impact on music than you think at first glance. When I heard he had passed away I initially thought “that’s too bad” but I didn’t consider myself much of a fan. Then I got thinking about his music and how much of it I really liked. This week’s SotW is from my inking demo at my workshop last weekend. One of the things I do at these workshops is demonstrate my inking and color techniques I use for MAD and other clients. This caricature of “The Big Bang Theory” star Jim Parsons was drawn and inked on the spot (in fact I asked the class to suggest a subject and then Googled up an image as reference) using Pelikan’s Drawing Ink A, a Hunt 102 and a #2 red sable brush.
