Took a breather from work the other day to catch the last episode of “True Detective”, which inspired this week’s sketch of Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey. That show was dark, but riveting. The Lovely Anna and I have been watching the Netflix series “House of Cards” and I have to say that is one TV show that can still surprise me on a regular basis. Spring training is underway for Major League Baseball, and all pro ballplayers are showing up at their teams spring training facilities to get ready for the 2014 season… well, not his guy. Alex Rodriguez is serving a 162 game suspension for the use of banned performance enhancing substances and obstructing the investigation of such. He actually could attend spring training under the terms of his suspension, but he’s staying home. Must have run out of “the cream” and “the clear”, and he’ll just concentrate on “the remote” this summer. READ MORE

I give up. Due to popular request from some very obsessive Doctor Who fans, I give you Doctor 8.5 aka The War Doctor, as portrayed by John Hurt. I will not be drawing David Tennant‘s hand, which having regenerated in an episode apparently counts as an individual Doctor regeneration, nor any of the actors who filled in for original doctors who passed away, nor Peter Cushing from the separate film versions. The BBC just released the first image of Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor, complete with his costume, so I could not resist doing a drawing of him as the official Doctor. I will NOT be issuing another limited edition print with Capaldi added, because that would just not be right. I am happy that the drawing I was doing of him as the “12th Doctor option” on the current print was not too far from his actual look in the show: For the few remaining ones of these I do, I will get the specifics of the costume more accurate.
