Sketch o’the Week- Kevin Bacon!

October 9th, 2013 | Posted in Sketch O'The Week

Better late than never today. This week’s subject for the “Sketch o’the Week” is the increasingly decrepit-looking Kevin Bacon. Does this make me only one degree separated from him? READ MORE

Sketch o’the Week- Gladiator!

Clicky to Embiggen… This obviously isn’t a sketch but as I am still over in Italy this will have to do. I posted this about seven years ago so many I am sure have never seen it, and given the subject matter and my current location (in fact I visited the Colosseum yesterday) I thought it was appropriate. This is some art from the fourth and last parody I did for Cracked magazine… back when Cracked was an actual comic publication with actual cartooning rather than a website with almost endless “top ten” lists and literally endless ads. The work I did on this parody… READ MORE

Sketch o’the Week- Salvador Dali!

This week’s sketch is a digital study I did as an element for a job that I’ll share sometime soon (whenever it’s been released). A quick sketch of artist Salvador Dali. READ MORE

Sketch o’the Week- Alison Pill!

September 18th, 2013 | Posted in Sketch O'The Week

I had so much fun drawing Jeff Daniels from “The Newsroom” a few weeks ago that I decided to take a shot at another cast member from that show, Alison Pill. I wish I had seen Alison here a few years ago when I was writing my book, because she is a perfect example of my “lines of force” theory for caricature. A central theme with caricature is the fact that a face has a fixed amount of entropy between all its elements. When you exaggerate the relationship (distance, size, angle) between some features, whatever you did needs to be balanced in another area to… READ MORE

Sketch o’the Week- Robin Thicke!

Back to reality… and to the “Sketch o’the Week”. This week’s subject is musician Robin Thicke, he of “Blurred Lines” fame. That is a pretty catchy tune. Check back later today for the second part of my USO tour wrap up. READ MORE

Sketch o’the Week- Jeff Daniels!

This week’s SotW is “The Newsroom” star Jeff Daniels. There are a lot of interesting faces on that show, it might be fun to do a series of studies of the main cast. READ MORE

Sketch o’the Week- Firefly!

August 14th, 2013 | Posted in Sketch O'The Week

Clicky to Embiggen… This is a little different than usual, but here’s a drawing I was commissioned to do at the Chicago Comic-Con this past weekend. Sorry for the lousy picture, I took it when the drawing was in a plastic holder, and it’s a little warped looking. Anyway, It’s the cast of “Firefly” with the couple who commissioned it added in on the right. Apparently one of the things you are expected to do when you have a booth at a comic-con are commissions for people. My buddy, comic book superstar Tom Nguyen, did a ton of them all weekend long. I prefer to… READ MORE

Sketch o’the Week- Peter Capaldi!

August 7th, 2013 | Posted in Sketch O'The Week

Figured I might as well round off the “Doctor Who” sketch collection with one of the just-announced twelve Doctor, Peter Capaldi. Of course, we dont; really know what he’ll look like as the Doctor… might have wild hair, or a mustache and goatee… who knows? We’ll find out in December. Meanwhile, don’t forget you can now get Peter added to my Doctor Who limited edition print for only $10 extra bucks!: READ MORE
