Sometime today Apple will be releasing their new tablet gizmo, which will either revolutionize the entire world as we know it… or it won’t. Either way our subject for the Sketch o’the Week, Apple ???berCEO Steve Jobs, will doubtless be doing the unveiling… or he won’t. READ MORE

This week’s subject is Star Trek’s new Uhura, actress Zo?¬¥ Saldana. She also “played” Neytiri in “Avatar”, but as she was a CGI blue alien the entire movie it’s hard to recognize her from that role. READ MORE

This week’s sketch is of former baseball player Mark McGwire, who this week tearfully gave away the worst kept secret in sports… that he used steroids when playing professional baseball. What a shock! While I applaud McGwire somewhat for coming clean (so to speak) and admitting to his using illegal drugs while breaking some of baseball’s most hallowed records, it’s laughable that he also claims that the steroids had nothing to do with his accomplishments as a player. He said in an interview that he believes he’d still have hit 70 home runs in 1998, and ended up with 583 career homers. I’ve heard the… READ MORE

This week’s subject is Edward James Olmos, star of the updated “Battlestar Galactica” TV series on the ScyFy network. The series is over now, and I never watched it while it was running. I’ve recently been renting the DVDs and found it to be a very good show. It’s pretty courageous in the way it handles it’s characters… warts and all. Olmos is particularly good and he’s got a great face to draw as well. READ MORE

This week’s sketch is a bit of a cheat… a rough for another of those workplace posters. This one is about co-workers providing support in the face of another worker’s difficulties. READ MORE

I’m busy drawing a lot of political caricatures right now for a series of character designs that will be modeled into 3D animations for a¬¨‚Ć documentary film, so I have been doing a lot of studies of past and present politicians in the sketchbook. These studies are helpful in trying to “figure out” the faces, so I can transfer the observations I am making to the animated character designs. Here’s one of those studies, this one of former president Bill Clinton. READ MORE

This week’s sketch is a LOOOOONG one of actress Megan Fox (don’t tell The Lovely Anna I drew Megan Fox . . . she thinks I have a “thing” for her). It was another interesting full body pose from a picture out of a recent issue of “US Weekly” Magazine. Drawing heads gets boring. Besides, I have been inspired recently by the terrific pin-up/caricature hybrid drawings and paintings of my good pal Ed Steckley. READ MORE

I did this quick study of Justin Timberlake from a picture out of an entertainment magazine that really caught my eye… mostly the interesting figure captured at a moment of balanced motion. READ MORE
