Daily Coronacature- Eddie Van Halen!
When I was in 8th grade I worked a paper route in La Crosse, WI. I used the proceeds to buy one of those inexpensive stereo systems from J.C. Pennys that was supposed to look like a component system with an amp/pre amp, a cassette deck, an equalizer with a lot of pretty lights, and a turntable on the top. The stereo came in a cabinet with a glass door on it. In reality the whole thing was one piece of cheap plastic surrounded by a pressboard box with a fake wood grain surface.
The first album I ever bought and played on it was Van Halen II.
Eddie Van Halen was one of those rare musicians who took their instrument and redefined how it was played, influencing all players after him, whether they know it or not. He was taken way too early after a long battle with cancer, but what a legacy.
RIP, Eddie.
