Kenosha Cartoon Festival: Funded!

In a spectacular, last minute over-the-shoulder running catch in deep left field, the Kenosha Festival of Cartooning’s Kickstarter campaign is officially funded! Many thanks to the ninety¬¨‚Ć folks who donated to make the festival happen, and especially to the National Cartoonists Society Foundation who’s matching funds pledge made the difference. Congratulations to Anne Hambrock and company, it is sure to be a fantastic event.

In fact, Anne recently announced it just got even more fantastic…the Festival has added award winning cartoonist Hilary Price (Rhymes with Orange) as a new guest speaker! That makes it an even more stellar lineup:

• Stephan Pastis – Pearls Before Swine
• Dave Coverly – Speed Bump
• Hilary Price – Rhymes With Orange
• Michael Jantze – The Norm and Jantze Animation Studios
• Greg Cravens – The Buckets
• Norm Feuti – Retail and Gil

The Kickstarter drive stil has until 6:00 pm Central time (that’s 7 pm Eastern and 4 pm Pacific) to keep collecting donations. Anne says the following:

This means that, not only will the festival happen this year – it will be even better than last year!

The extra money will help me make it a truly stellar event and give me a publicity budget as well (which I did not have last year)

The pledge drive is still officially open until tomorrow at 5:00 pm CST and any more money I receive in pledges will go toward festival expenses I may not have anticipated. If there is any money left over, it will be banked for another festival.

Predictably, no one claimed one of my lame MAD pages as reward for donating at the $400 level. I knew that would be the case . . . this stuff is very common. In fact, I’ve got drawers of the crap just laying around my place. Still, I am sticking to my offer and have five selected pages from among the following features that appeared in MAD Magazine:

• “Harry Plodder and the Torture of the Fan Base” from MAD #480
• “Sad Men” from MAD #508
