Happy Anniversary Stan and Julie Sakai!

Stan Sakai is one of the most talented and beloved creators in comics. His Usagi Yojimbo comic series is a marvel of the art of comic book storytelling, among many other terrific projects he’s worked on. He’s also one of the kindest and most humble people you will ever meet.

Without going into it Stan had a lot of personal heartbreak in his life not that long ago. I’m glad to say he celebrated his one year anniversary to his beautiful new bride Julie yesterday, and there few to whom happiness, peace, and contentment is more deserved and well-bestowed than Stan. He commissioned me to do the above caricature of he and Julie as an anniversary present for her, a rare opportunity for me to get out the real paints for a change. I thought I’d share it here.
