Illustration Thurowback- Marlin Co!
I haven’t posted one of these in a long while, so today’s “Illustration Throwback Thursday” is a look at one of the “workplace posters” I did for many years for a client called “The Marlin Company”. These were 17″ x 17″ illustrations that generally illustrated some message about teamwork, reducing stress at work, workplace safety, or some other employment issue. I happen to have the pencil sketch I sent them for approval also:
I did one of these every month for about 15 years. I don’t have an exact count but I am sure I did over 150 of them. This one was done in 2013. There was always a caption printed below them with the message I was doing some kind of humorous take on.
I did my first job for them in 2002, and got the gig directly as a result of my being in MAD Magazine. The art director was a fan of MAD, and saw and liked my art in the magazine. That gig went away in 2017 after the head of the art department retired.
