Just When You Think…
March 2nd, 2010 | Posted in Freelancing
…you’re getting too old to pull multiple all nighters you find yourself staring at two deadlines, one a last minute rush job for your best client and an unusual family issue tossed in the mix and all of a sudden it’s Tuesday and you haven’t slept since you woke up on Sunday morning.
Ah, well. Plenty of sleep tonight… maybe right now actually. In the meantime here is a rare real painting I did last week for an equally rare non-publication job. This is an executive who was a big MAD fan as a kid, commissioned as a gift (at the last minute, ‘natch). Very simple very quick acrylic.

Always fun to see you do traditional media; great job, Tom!
Is this executive one of the family members/owners of White Castle? That company was featured on “Undercover Bosses” Sunday night. I think it’s the best reality show on TV.
Nope. I believe this guy is an executive for an ad agency that handles the White Castle account.
I don’t know, that’s a pretty nice “very simple very quick acrylic”… and one heck of a gift!
Full disclosure: Those MAD covers he’s holding are scans of actual covers I then printed and pasted into the scene.. their idea.
I was just about to ask whether or not those were painted. If so I was going to applaud your precision! But considering your time crunch I’m sure you were relieved knowing they were just going to be printed in the end!
And I love it – what vivid color!
This is beautiful, Tom. You can definitely paint!
I only have a question for a TOTAL disclosure Mr. Tom:
How much???????
Uhhhhhh… I forget.
Wonderful painting Tom! Skin tones nice and fresh & clean! Awesome!
Wow, EXCELLENT stuff Tom! You sure haven’t lost ANY of your painting chops!
Tom,
And VERY AWSOME!!!!
