MAD #1 Sneak Peek #2!
The second parody I drew for the new MAD #1 was different than your typical MAD spoof. Ostensibly it is a parody of the CW show “Riverdale”, but it begins as a sort of sequel to Bill Elder‘s famous “Starchie” parody from MAD #12 way back in 1954. Ian Boothby‘s script required me to draw in Bill Elder’s style for the first three pages, before “Starchie” and “Bottleneck” are sent forward in time to Riverdale (uh… I mean Riverdull) 2017. From then on it’s my usual style featuring caricatures of the “Riverdale” cast. Here are sample panels from this nine page extravaganza:
The above is the second intro page, where the modern day versions of the characters wake up in 2017.
Wha? Whaddya mean you want to read the jokes? What does this look like, a furshlugginer library? Go out and buy a copy of MAD #1, clod!

looks promising.
Mimicking Elder’s style must have been fun! You nailed it.
Looking good as always.
