MAD 495 Sneak Peek
I originally posted the DDD today but forgot about this “poster” that the folks at MAD released early from an upcoming issue. It’s another in their series of political parody movie posters:
This is of course a takeoff on the poster for “Forgetting Sarah Marshall“, a forgettable movie from this year. Last issue they did two posters, one bashing Obama (The 40 year old Polititcal Virgin) and one McCain (No Country for Old Man). MAD has been “leaking” these images on the internet recently.
These poster parodies are a smart idea for MAD, serving as a way to combat the challenges of publishing a time and work intensive art based magazine that cannot compete in timeliness to the instant nature of the internet. Something like this can be concieved, brainstormed, PhotoShopped and placed in the next issue with about a 4 week from drawing board to news stand turnaround. Better, it can hit the internet within minutes of completion.

Bahaha! That’s a great poster! I love political/election satire, even other countries’ election satire! I’m assuming this is a big lead up to an issue full of political satire. The leaking of the posters by MAD is a good way to advertise the issue as well. Hopefully more people start noticing MAD.
