MAD About NPR
August 26th, 2016 | Posted in MAD Magazine
A couple of weeks ago I met up with MAD art director Sam Viviano and MAD writer Desmond Devlin in Omaha, NE to do a presentation for the KANEKO organization as part of their “Storytelling” series and exhibit. Before we left for Nebraska we three plus MAD‘s Maddest Writer Dick DeBartolo did a short radio interview for Nebraska Public Radio. Here’s a link to the 14 minute segment.

The whole group of you came across very well. Good to hear the voices behind the satires and other pieces for Mad. Readers here, who haven’t already done so, should look up youtube interviews with others like Mort Drucker questioned by John Reiner, where Mort talks about his role being sometimes like a movie director setting up interesting or provocative shots and camera angles, and his thoughts on knowing when to stop, and not go too far with an image. Jack Davis interviews, with that easy going attitude and charming Southern drawl are also fun to view.
