MAD News: MAD #11 will have the “MAD 20!”
August 13th, 2019 | Posted in MAD Magazine
I’ve known this for a few days now but felt I needed to keep it under my hat. However MAD’s MADDEST WRITER Dick DeBartolo officially let the cat out of the bag on Leo Laporte’s “The Tech Guy” podcast this past weekend that MAD #11, which was originally supposed to be the first issue with reprinted classic material and little or no new original content, will have the annual “MAD‘s 20 Dumbest, Events, People, and Things of (the Year)”. So that’s a lot of original content right there… at least for one more issue.

I think MAD will keep having original material from time to time if it wants to stay current.
Mad needs to start a website search engine and feed off it or create some kind of intergalactic device that can insert itself into current market.
Perhaps like a fake news site similar to the real site Drudge Report, and create parody mocking today’s foolishness using intellectual insight, irony, and of course, “mad” art skills at the helm.
Begin a parody news site offering fake news only admitting it is fake up front unlike say CNN, FOX, NBC, and you know the rest of them.
Perhaps the conglomerate news venues could pay all of us to hush!!!!
Best mad wishes,

Will the new/reprint Mads still be doing their Letters pages or is that being dropped too?
I doubt that. It’s one thing they can do for free, since the staff does it and they are being paid regardless.
At least that’ll be original material.
If you say so. No art, just a lot of smart assed answers to reader mail. I’m not so sure I’d call that “material”.
I was actually thinking earlier today that, if they’re looking to save money by doing reprints, MAD should also print samples of the letters they got in response to the reprinted articles, including photos of celebrities grimacing at their MAD depictions. It’d still be repackaging, but at least it would be repackaging with some creativity and effort put into it.
