MADness #74: Fundalini Fun!
It’s Monday again, and that means it’s time for yet another exciting episode of our relentless crawl through my work at MAD magazine. This week we have a look at what might have been the smallest piece I ever had in the magazine. This was a spot feature that was part of “The Fundalini Pages”, which was a multiple page feature at the front of every issue from #438 to to the last NYC issue #550. The Fundalini Pages contained short features, multiple ones to a page, that were sometimes illustrated (like this one) and sometimes just copy. I only ever did two pieces for Fundalini… this one and a three panel comic a couple of years earlier.
I’d love to tell you who wrote this, but I’m not sure. MAD didn’t credit each Fundalini feature but instead had a credit list at the end entitled “Friends of Fundalini” where all the creators who wrote or drew the content were listed in alphabetical order. So, this was written by either Dick DeBartolo, Desmond Devlin, Jeff Kruse or Jacob Lambert. You can makes your pick and takes your chances.
Toon in next week as we once again step away from my stuff in MAD and have a look at something I did for it’s short lived sister publication, MAD KIDS!

Not written by Desmond Devlin. The jokes are too funny, and the spelling is entirely correct.
