Men of Steel- Brandon Routh!
July 6th, 2015 | Posted in General
Superman as played by Brandon Routh in 2006’s “Superman Returns”.
I did the parody of this film for MAD, and used the “censored” gag in there as well. It refers to an internet rumor that the filmmakers had to digitally edit many of the scenes in the movie to reduce Routh’s “package”, which was supposedly distracting. According to this article, that is an urban myth that is not true. Still funny, though.

This answers a question I was pondering. On the very last episode of Smallville, Tom Welling as Clark Kent became Superman…kinda’. The producers were more than a bit “on the fence” about this. Lois looks out of an airplane window and sees Tom’s face with the red cape billowing behind him, staring back at her. Plus there are a couple of long (very long) shots of him saving said plane. And in the last seconds of the series, he strides across the roof of the Daily Planet building while opening his shirt to reveal the “el” family crest. So I guess he just escapes your criteria. Rumors has it that Routh’s suit was loaned out for this. Welling would’ve made a great big screen Supes!
