More from the CNN Grill
The video above aired on CNN several times the last day or so. I am mentioned and briefly shown drawing, followed by a look at the wall of caricatures, for which I am indirectly credited (or blamed). In fact, only a few of the caricatures shown above I actually did (Adrian Grenier, Hill Harper, Dennis and Elizabeth Kucinich, Elijah Cummings, Bill Richardson, Jesse Jackson, and a few others). Most of the CNN people were drawn at the Republican National Convention in Tampa by caricaturist Glenn Ferguson, especially the one of Anderson Cooper, which he complains about on the video. I did the one of Dana Bash where she questions her likeness, but she should have tipped me since I actually made her look better than she does.
I’ll have a full wrap up of this next week sometime after I get a bunch of promised photos sent to me from one of the freelance photographers. There were positives and negatives about the gig, not the least of which was that I have never worked in marker and prismacolor stix in my life, and had to learn the technique on the job. . . and no one told me about using a foam sheet under my drawing until day 3.

“…she should have tipped me since I actually made her look better than she does….”
OUCH.
But true, too-
That was a fun video, and I think Dana Bash should be happy with her image. Its too bad they did not make it clear (as you stated) that most of the caricatures they showed were not done by you. After seeing his caricature by another artist, I think Anderson Cooper will be spending the weekend at some kind of caricature victim’s therapy group!. Your Adrian Grenier came out looking like a refined quality Mad satire pic. The Jeff Bridges picture looked like it was coming along nicely too!. With how angry and polarizing politics can be, its nice that they had a fun segment like this.
I was contacted to be one of the artists and ended up getting passed over for Ed Steckley. I can’t say I was that disappointed considering the fight of traffic I would have had to endure , long days, and apparent botching of the news media of lumping all the Caricatures into one as of they were all drawn by you.
