NCS Foundation Benefit Auction!

February 6th, 2017 | Posted in News

The National Cartoonists Society Foundation is holding a benefit auction featuring some very cool and very rare pieces of original cartoon art. All the proceeds go to the NCS Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) charity that works with the NCS to promote education in cartooning, encourage aspiring cartoonists through scholarships, and to provide assistance to cartoonists in need.

The NCSF has several worthwhile programs like the Jay Kennedy Memorial Scholarship, which provides a $5000 grant every year to a student of cartooning; the Cartooning for Kids program with sends cartoonists to children’s hospitals all over the country with goody bags full of art supplies and comics and to draw for kids struggling with illness and their families; and the Milt Gross Fund, which provides financial assistance for cartoonists who are in need.

All that stuff costs money, and (I believe) this is the first major, public fundraiser for the NCS Foundation. There are some really great pieces, including one from the late, great Jack Davis! Just look at the list in the image above. I have a piece in the auction as well:

It’s from the 2015 NCS “Star Wars” Comic-Con print. In fact there are several of the originals from that print from many cartoonists in the auction. Very cool and rare stuff.

Please go check it out and bid on something if you can, it’s for a good cause!
