NCS President Bill Morrison!

If you are a member of the National Cartoonists Society, you’ll have seen this caricature I did of new President Bill Morrison from his latest column in the The Cartoon!st. Actually, come to think of it, if there was one thing I learned from spending four years serving as president it was that NOBODY reads the president’s column. So, this will be new to you as well! It’s a little preview of what’s to come at the Reuben Awards Weekend this year in Memphis…

Anyway, Bill took over for me in May at the last Reubens, and is doing a great job as president. The Society couldn’t be in better hands.

If you are not familiar with Bill’s work, you should be. As an illustrator he did a ton of promotional art for classic Disney movies like “The Little Mermaid”, “Cinderalla”, “Lady and the Tramp”, and many others. He co-founded Bongo Comics (with Matt Groening and Steve and Cindy Vance), and was the creative director there for almost 20 years. He was also the art director on “Futurama”, and has his own comic book series Roswell that he did with Bongo, and is writing a new comic book with Dark Horse called Dead Vengance, and is overseeing a new digital comics department at Bongo, and… he was crazy to take on the job of NCS president. Too late now!!

Speaking of the NCS’s Reuben Awards Weekend I once again did the art for the official brochure, and once that hits member’s mailboxes I’ll share it here.
