SWAMPED… and as I am leaving to an undisclosed location(s) on another of those USO trips on the 5th, the blogging might be a bit on the light side for a while…
- MAD– A 6 page movie parody!!! Woot!
- MAD Animated show– Back to work on some new episodes.
- Penthouse– Series of illustrations for an ongoing celebrity column
- Advertising job– series of caricature illustrations for a big corporation
- Workplace Poster– My usual monthly assignment
Speaking of workplace posters, here’s last month’s illustration. Click for a closer look:

Great news.too early to say what movie you’re parodying?
Yes, sorry. MAD doesn’t like it when I spill the beans.
Great job Tom,lol, but why is there a dog in the office with a broken leg? Just askin.
The idea is that everything is coming down on this lady at once, including personal issues. The dog was specifically asked for in the art direction.
A six-page movie parody? What else could it be but “Yogi Bear”?
I noticed you had to redraw alot of your lines, and different features on the faces! Does the art director really gets involved alot or is the changes mostly up to you? I miss you Tom and will not be able to attend the convention this year!
The art director does really get involved in these images, down to specifying things like age, gender and racial type for characters and their expressions. The only one I was asked to change here was the tall guy in the back on the right… they didn’t want him so stern looking, but more animated and a little panicked. The dog I redrew on my won because I didn’t like the way he was looking.
I will also not be at the con this year, as I will be on a USO trip.
