On the Drawing Board

I’m just finishing up the artwork for the National Cartoonist Society’s 2008 Reuben Weekend, and I’m getting deep into that MAD TV parody which is due soon… a few other little jobs here and there as well, plus one very major project for a movie that will take up much of the next few months. More on that later…

I just finsihed this magazine cover for Scholastic on Wednesday and I was surprised that they said I could share it here whenever I wanted to, so there it is. It’s along the same lines as the cover I did a few months ago:

The story it is illustrating is about how the internet and technology is changing the way candidates run their campaigns and interact with potential voters. They specified for me to change their expressions to be less aggressive, and to have them both be on Macs so one wouldn’t be “cooler” than the other.

Nice. I like how you worked in the iPhone and the iSight cameras. Nice touch.

Awesome job Tom! The expressions are priceless! The texture detail on the donkey and elephants bodies looks phenomenal.
BTW You should be getting your check from Apple for product placing their IPhone in the drawing. lol.
Now there’s a market for advertisers. Tell us cartoonists and illustrators that for every art job for a major advertiser you include our products in the artwork “subliminally” like product placement in movies? They pay us.
