My contribution to this issue is the art for a seven page parody of the movie “Ready Player One” written by Desmond Devlin. I’ll post some sneak peeks of that tomorrow.
This issue also marks the return of “The Lighter Side of…”, but sans that feature’s longtime writer/artist Dave Berg who has been terrible at meeting deadlines since he died in 2002. I’d also like to call your attention to the two page spread with thoughts and remembrances of the late, great Nick Meglin, illustrated with an incredible caricature by Sam Viviano… a loving send off to someone who was truly the soul of MAD.

I always look forward to your “On the Stands” announcements as it allows me details as to what is inside an upcoming issue (and because my comic book store gets new MAD issues very late for some reason, this information tides me over until then). However, I am also a big fan of your “On the Drawing Board” feature which gives us the earliest information, no matter how slight, of your contributions to an upcoming MAD. And this got me to thinking that since the “Drawing Board” feature isn’t a truly consistent item on your blog, that maybe you could blend it in with your “On the Stands” announcement. For example, after the content list and your explanation about what you did in the issue, you could add a teaser line simply stating: “UPCOMING IN ISSUE #???: A seven page movie parody.”
This is just a simple idea from a pretty impatient guy.
