My contribution to this issue is a three page article that expands on the “Toyota Story” concept I worked on as a web only poster a few months ago. The poster got reworked a little and became the article’s splash page, and then two pages of story was written by Desmond Devlin. Look for a sneak peek of that tomorrow.
So what are you waiting for? Go out and buy a copy, clod!

Hi Tom!
2 questions about #504:
First off, what do you think about the new use of the Images from Dreamstime.com? I can’t imagine Irving Schild can haul around shooting spot shots for minature Buddhas and 1993 era beepers, but it looks like they hit this well pretty regularly in this issue. I can only guess it saves on costs.
And second, I noticed in the Fundalini Pages, the mention of “Sam Viviano” as a contributor. Did something happen to Jack Syracuse that we don’t know about?
Thanks for the great posts of late (Piotr was awsome! Wow!!) and keep up the good work in the Mad.
Kyle
In the past MAD has used AP photos and other pics from image sources, so using a service like dreamstime.com seems to just be another source of such images. I was surprised at the number of credits to the service, however.
As for Sam and Jack… I know Syracuse is still around and pops up now and then in MAD but when the unofficial MAD policy of never crediting staff for specific contributions went away altogether Sam’s name started popping up again. He’s done a number of pieces in the last few years.
i’m surprised that there’s nothing on bp in this issue! still looks like a good line-up ~
