Return to Monster Island!

I didn’t return from Vienna to Monster Island but I did return to about a foot of snow in April in Minnesota, so frankly I’d prefer Monster Island. I did find this waiting for me, though! It’s the 20th Anniversary Creator’s Edition of the Monster Island comic by Graham Nolan. Graham funded it via a Kickstarter campaign, which sadly ended yesterday. Actually that Kickstarter was for copies of the comic itself. The Kickstarter I promoted last summer was for this limited edition hardcover. I hope you backed it because this is one beautiful book. 11′”x 17″ glossy hardcover with 96 gorgeous pages featuring the original Monster Island story reproduced from the original art boards done in classic black and white with Graham’s fantastic brushwork and old school Duotone values, plus a new short story in glorious color that is a primer for the new sequel story “Return to Monster Island”.

Also included is a full color pin-up section and I was really flattered to be asked to do one. I have to say mine looks more than a little out of place amid some incredible REAL comic book art by the likes of Jose Garcia-Lopez, Bart Sears, Lee Weeks, Graham himself and other heavyweights, but I had some fun with it.

I’m lucky I got a copy, because they were limited to 300 signed and number editions!

Anyway even thought the Kickstarter is over I am sure Graham’s new “Return to Monster Island” comic will be available for regular mortals this summer. When it is I’ll let you know, because these are some fantastic, fun comics.
