San Diego Comic Con Report
July 23rd, 2018 | Posted in General
San Diego Comic Con was its usual totally insane, overcrowded, smelly, frustrating bunch of awesomeness. I was kept incredibly busy doing various commissions from “live caricature” style drawings to more elaborate cover sketches and other fun stuff. The one above was one of my favorites from the week. Typically I got to spend far less time than I would have liked to with lots of people there. That’s the frustrating part. Well, that and people stopping in the middle of a shoulder-to-shoulder crowded walkway to get their 10th picture of a cosplay Deadpool of the day.
Check out this great recap of the MAD panel on Bleeding Cool.

Great Frank Miller Batman parody!
I was hired by History Channel’s, “Project Blue Book” to draw people’s descriptions of their encounters with Aliens, UFOs, and strange creatures for 4 days – 34 hours – for the entire San Diego Comic-Con except for preview night, so I missed out on my chance to see you, Steve Silver, and a bunch of ISCA folks, but especially I missed out on seeing all of the old great original artwork from the 20s to the 80s which is the only reason in the world to fill up my lungs with nerd-flavor air-conditioning for four days… Even more importantly, I missed out on all the great Mad Magazine rebranding and celebratory activity – Even more importantly, I missed out on all the great mad magazine rebranding and celebratory activity – hope you had a fantastic time!
