Sketch O’The Day
December 1st, 2006 | Posted in Sketch O'The Week
Not much of a caricature, but some days I just feel like drawing and not sweating over trying to exaggerate. Everybody draws this actor as Gandalf or Magneto, but I found this old picture of him from some film where he played a military commander of some kind. Ian McKellen:
It’s fun to draw well known actors from different periods of their careers… great learning experience about how the face ages.

You continue to impress me, Tom.
Off topic, but are the works in your studio store prints or the sketches?
Possible movies:
The Promise
The Keep
I’m placing my two cents on “The Promise” becuase he play’s a millitary doctor or something in “The Keep”. How’s that for being a movie geek?
Matt- The works in the Studio Store are all originals.
opsman- the film was Richard III
Great sketch work as always Tom, the composition of this is very cool and I love the shoulder lapel, as the Dude would say (The BIG Lebowski), it really ties it together!
