Sketch O’The Week
September 19th, 2007 | Posted in Sketch O'The Week
A few weeks ago I had a little after the season party at my place for all my Minnesota artists. A few of them found a couple of old sketchbooks in my studio and paged through them. This was one of the sketches in one of those books… probably around 10 years old or so. It was a study I did of MAD caricature legend Mort Drucker that I later did as an airbrush painting as a thank you to him for sponsoring me for membership in the NCS, among other things. I still like the sketch because it captured his posture and body type as well as his features. Mort has these big hands and compact, round-shouldered form.

Nice sketch! Shoot, you sponsored me in the NCS and I never gave you anything. Forgive me for being a cad.
Absolutely brilliant sketch Tom, thanks for posting
Yeah, you never send me flowers anymore, Cedric! 😀
Thanks for the kind words, guys. I wish i still had a scan of that painting, but that was one of the many casualties of the big hard drive crash of 2006.
Always have loved this sketch Tom, first saw it on your website many years ago!
