Sketch o’the Week
June 1st, 2011 | Posted in Sketch O'The Week
This isn’t really a sketch, but I did this ink and watercolor piece as a gift from the rest of the National Cartoonist Society’s board of directors for outgoing NCS president Jeff Keane (The Family Circus). The stuff laying on the floor represents the four different locations Jeff hosted the Reuben Awards in during his two terms as president: New Orleans, Los Angeles, New Jersey and Boston. The other members of the board signed the original and we presented it to him at our board meeting. I understand it’s already on eBay…

Amazing! A fitting tribute to your predecessor.
Tom! Now look at the “soul” real medium shows, I mean REAL ink and watercolor is just an amazing combination as opposed to digital! I know, I know you pro’s need to use the desk top for speed & ease, but in this piece you can see the “love” in the art! Just like making a big pot of Italian meatballs & gravy,… nuttin but love baby, lol! Great job Tom, hope you do more of this type of “old fashioned art”!
It’s already up to 99 cents! Another fine piece, Tom and congratulations to Jeff on his accomplished reign. Hats off to you as NCS president…I think Michele Bachmann would make a great VP! Enjoyed the O’Leary interview and the NCS awards rundown, too. Richmond 2012!!!!!
Congrats on the presidency Tom! Viva Richmond!
Congrats Tom! Just don’t travel in an opened top motorcade in Dallas…haha!
