Sketch o’the Week
August 17th, 2011 | Posted in Sketch O'The Week
I did this sketch of Malcolm in the Middle actor Erik Per Sullivan for one of the chapters in my book, The Mad Art of Caricature!. The chapter in question is focused on drawing and caricaturing individual features. Can you guess which feature this one was an example of? π

Hummmm…. the “eyes” feature?
I can’t wait to receive my book… Tom, I didn’t ordered the pack with the original drawing… Do you think it is possible to add it to my order? I would be very amazed to have one of your drawings..
Thanks!
No… the “eyes” NO! I think is the hair… Different directions and possibilities in only one head…
Missed again? :S
It’s definitely a tutorial on how to draw realistic clothing, the shirt work in this is nothing short of astounding!
Nose divots! π On a serious note, Tom, looking at this caricature brings back fond memories of your first TV satire for MAD, “Malcontent in the Muddle” (#403, March ’01) – I’m wondering if MAD will ever greenlight a parody of ABC’s sitcom The Middle, which is a great show but owes a lot to Malcolm and… (Including the quirky youngest son Brick, played by Atticus Shaffer, who reminds me a lot of Erik Per Sullivan’s “Dewey…”)
Re: The Middle…Who knows? MAD is doing a lot more TV parodies these days, and showing a surprising willingness to take on sitcoms. Not easy to parody something that is not taking itself seriously in the first place.
I think it is the ears example…
Bingo!
LOL this made me smile! The eyes really gave it away… also I didn’t know your book came out already too, what a great day π
