Far be it from me to offer “advice”, but I’d make the ears smaller and rounder.
Having said that – God, I love your stuff!
Well, nobody’s perfect.

Great sketch Tom!
As you probably can imagine there’s a lot of minority groups watching political cartoonists and satirists right now seeing how our African American President Barrack Obama is portrayed in the media. They are waiting to rip into cartoonists who play up the stereo typical African American features that they find offensive and stereo typical. These groups will also boycott,demonstrate in front of newspapers,magazines denouncing the publication for the way their race is lampooned in the art.
Editorial cartoonists often are harsher on a presidents caricature than anyone over the presidents term. It’ll be interesting to:
1-See how many cartoonists hold back on their caricatures of Obama as not to offend and 2-How many editors will be called on the carpet by minority groups for the way Obama’s being portrayed by their cartoonists now that he’s a president.
You are SO good and your work is a terrific source of inspiration! Love your Obama 🙂

I think alot of the objections to various Obama caricatures have less to do with his race and more to do with him just being portrayed in a silly way. It’s like they just can’t deal with The One being made fun of…as if he’s exempt from satire. I’m sure that’ll change over time.

I “kind of” agree. There are those so called watch dogs of minority races (African American,Mexican,Mid Eastern,China etc.) who wish to protect their races from unfair stereotyping in artwork.
I did artwork for an NBA team where I had to draw African American players for a teams promotional shirt. My artwork before it could be used-had to be approved by both the Players Assoc. and NBA . The reason for this was to insure the African American players caricatures weren’t derogatory like lil Black Sambo or Al Jolson etc.
Its was interesting when the primaries started as “some” cartoonists wait to see how other cartoonists caricature a candidate before embarking on their own…
As everyone knows Presidents seem to morph into their caricature while they’re in office.
Carter went from happy smiley to depressed and downtrodden.
Gerald Ford was allegedly the hardest as he had an unusual face to caricature.
I wrote recently how I spend days working on my Obama and still not completely happy with it. Did you really have to brag about doing yours in 10 minutes. ha ha
