Sketch o’the Week- James Spader!
December 9th, 2015 | Posted in Sketch O'The Week
The Lovely Anna and I watch “The Blacklist” regularly. It’s a guilty pleasure, mainly because of this guy… Red Redington himself, James Spader. The show has some HUGE plot holes and a suspension of disbelief that borders on the ridiculous, but Spader’s character is so mesmerizing you can forgive how criminals can somehow escape from the FBI in a helicopter over the skies of Washington DC like the airspace isn’t blanketed by radar and yet in 15 seconds the techies in their ops headquarters can get the name and intimate details of a suspect’s entire life using only a partial picture of their left ear as a basis.
And yes, this original sketch is for sale in the Studio Store for the usually outrageous price.

When it began, I felt like they were doing a variation on the Hannibal/Clarice relationship, as well as having Red in the now cliche prison cage in the middle of a giant room, bit. I thought MAD would satirize it as “Silence of the Blacklist”. Good cast, and Spader, as you suggest, is the main draw. A KQRS show biz gossip guy said this morning, that the show is signed up for another 4 years.
