Sketch o’the Week- Tom Petty!
I was sad to hear of the sudden death of Tom Petty this past Monday. He was one of those rockers who had a bigger impact on music than you think at first glance. When I heard he had passed away I initially thought “that’s too bad” but I didn’t consider myself much of a fan. Then I got thinking about his music and how much of it I really liked. He was one of the early major players on Mtv back when Mtv actually played music videos. “Damn the Torpedoes” was one of the biggest albums of the early 80’s. He ghad hit after hot after hit, and experimented with different endevors like The Traveling Wilburys. He never stopped making great music and having big hits. He wasn’t ever one of those flashy rock stars with huge arena shows, but you never reached for the radio dial to turn o another station when one of his songs came on. They were just great to listen to. Anyway, RIP Tom, thanks for the enjoyable listening all these years.
