Toonfest Art Exhibit: Call for Artwork
A few weeks ago I wrote this post about the annual Walt Disney Toonfest in Marceline, MO and this year’s event. Since Marceline geographically falls within the my chapter of the National Cartoonist Society, the North Central Chapter, we are closely involved in Toonfest in general and their annual art show in particular.
I received the following press release from former chapter officer Paul Fell, concerning this year’s art show. The show is very well done and any professional cartoonists who might be reading this should consider submitting work. Return shipping is paid by the Toonfest organizers so all you are out is the “to” postage and your art will be seen and admired by a lot of people including many young, aspiring cartoonists.

Dear Cartoonists:
The 2006 edition of the Walt Disney Hometown Toonfest in Marceline, MO is fast approaching. This year’s event will be held September 15-16 and we hope to see many of you there. You can see the 2006 Toonfest schedule and list of speakers at out web site at
http://www.toonfest.net/
Each year the Toonfest sponsors a cartoon exhibit at the Marceline Masonic Hall that features the work of NCS North Central members, professional cartoonists from around the nation, and cartoons by this year’s Toonfest headliners. We have had rave reviews from those viewing the exhibit each year, and we hope that you will be able to participate in September.
We would like to have up to 5 cartoons from each of you for the show. Cartoons should be matted or mounted on mat board with a 3″ border. All work should be received no later than Friday, September 8.
IF YOU ARE NOT AN NCS N. CENTRAL CHAPTER MEMBER, YOUR WORK WILL BE SHIPPED BACK TO YOU AT NO COST AFTER THE TOONFEST EXHIBIT CLOSES ON SEPTEMBER 16.
When we take the exhibit down following the Saturday, Sept. 16 festivities, North Central chapter members’ work will be shipped to Tom Richmond in Minneapolis, MN. Tom is one of the hosts of the 2006 N. Central fall chapter meeting in the Twin Cities the weekend of Oct. 6, and your cartoons will be featured in an exhibit at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, one of the most prestigious private art schools in the Midwest.
Following the MCAD Minneapolis show, which closes on October 29, your work will be returned at no cost to you. Please send your cartoons as soon as possible to:
