Ultimate Live Caricature Book Is Out!
Way back in February I posted a rare link to a Kickstarter campaign for a book that was to celebrate the art of “live” caricature, meaning the kind that s done in quick fashion from a live model at a theme park, fair, festival, event or on the street. The brainchild of artist Manny Avetisyan , “The Ultimate Guide to Modern Live Caricature” features multiple caricatures of the different subjects that show the incredible diversity of the artform. You’ll see caricatures that range from cartoony to realistic to the bizarrely abstract, and anywhere in between. It’s really cool to see how different artists interpret the same model… what each chooses to focus on and what they decide to exaggerate. A part of the proceeds went to benefit a caricaturist pal of mine who was seriously hurt and left impaired from a murderous attack a few years ago. I participated in the book, drawing 10 different models in my live graphite and airbrush style.
The book is now out and available on Amazon! I would make a unique gift for someone who is interested in the art of caricature.

As a fan of Tom Richmond, MAD, caricature, and a participant in the Ultimate Guide to Modern Live Caricature Kickstarter campaign – and being one of ten drawn by Tom – the book is a great addition to any artist’s library and a great representation of the live caricature field. Definitely a unique gift and for a worthy cause!
I know books can guide the artist but I believe practicing is the key.How many hours menimun should a cartoonist put in sketching daily?
As many as possible
